From Swimming To Calisthenics Workouts:
Before calisthenics captured my heart, I was in the world of swimming for over 12 years. This discipline laid a strong foundation for my physical fitness, teaching me the value of dedication and hard work. However, it was in 2018 that I found my true calling in Calisthenics, a sport that not only challenged my physical limits but also offered an unparalleled sense of freedom and creativity.
Working My Way To The Calisthenics Top:
My journey in Calisthenics has been marked by significant milestones and achievements. In 2019, I claimed the title at the “Beast of the Barz” competition, a victory that propelled me into the spotlight. Since then, I’ve continued to grow, securing first-place finishes in both the Swedish & Nordic Freestyle Calisthenics Championships (2021 & 2022) and the Swedish Champion in 1RM (Streetlifting / Weighted Calisthenics) in 2022. My performance at the WSWCF World Championships in 2022, where I secured a second-place finish in the Heavyweight Category, remains one of my proudest moments.
The Calisthenics Lifestyle: More Than Just a Sport
For me, calisthenics is not just a sport; it’s a way of life. It has reshaped my mindset, making me a more disciplined and visionary individual. Despite being one of the heavier athletes in the field, I’ve pushed myself to excel, proving that size does not define one’s ability in calisthenics.
Overcoming Challenges: The Path Forward
One of my biggest challenges was convincing myself that I could succeed in calisthenics despite my size. Looking ahead, my goal is to inspire more people to embrace this sport and to connect with calisthenics communities worldwide. It doesn’t matter if you are heavyweight, lightweight, big or small… anyone can do it!
Calisthenics Workout and Advice for Beginners
I train for 1.5 hours per session, six times a week, concentrating on exercises that I enjoy and find effective. My go-to equipment includes parallettes (p-bars), resistance bands, and chalk. For those new to the sport, I recommend finding exercises that resonate with you and creating a training routine that builds consistency and enjoyment.
Calisthenics Cup 2024
I joined one of the biggest Calisthenics competitions in the world at FIBO called the Calisthenics Cup. I managed to win my first round my lost my second round to one of the top athletes at that competition. You can read more about this Calisthenics competition at Calisthenics Worldwide.
Nutrition, Motivation, and Life Beyond Calisthenics
Maintaining a balanced diet is crucial to my performance, supplemented by creatine, magnesium, omega-3 oil, and vitamin D during winter. To stay motivated, I focus on exercises I excel at, especially when training feels like a chore. Preparing for competitions involves longer combinations and additional cardio to build stamina.
Balancing my training with studying mechanical engineering and running my own company has taught me the importance of adaptability and resilience. Outside of calisthenics, I enjoy fishing, skiing, and socializing with friends, with “Suicideboys” being my music of choice for workouts.
A Message to the Calisthenics Community
To the calisthenics community, I say, “Good vibes only!” I am proud to be a part of this incredible community, and my journey is a testament to the fact that with dedication, perseverance, and a positive mindset, anyone can achieve greatness in calisthenics, regardless of their background or physical stature.
